Hancor Recognized for Innovative Safety and Productivity Methods
Findlay, Ohio – November 19, 2002: The National
Safety Council (NSC) recently announced Hancor, Inc. a winner of
the 2002 award for Outstanding Achievements in Safety & Productivity.
Presented in co-operation with Aon Corporation and Cambridge Integrated
Services Group, Inc., the honor recognizes strategic intervention
efforts showing significant impact in safety performance and productivity.
"We are honored to accept this distinguished award,"
says Steve Anderson, President of Hancor. "We strive to provide
a positive example and to encourage the industry to excel in areas
of safety and productivity. It is our hope the safety message will
become widely recognized and accepted as an essential part of business
and valuable investment, critical to an organization’s sustainability.
We would like to thank NSC for the recognition and encouragement."
Hancor qualified for the competitive award by submitting a case
study, documenting the state of safety and productivity of Hancor
before and after intervention. The study demonstrates upper management
involvement and support for safety, which is important in developing
active commitment throughout the company.
The Outstanding Achievements in Safety & Productivity Award
is recognition of the time and attention Hancor has given to safety
practices. The corporation succeeded in integrating safety into
the manufacturing process, thereby reducing recordable injuries
by 52.6 percent.
At Hancor, the focus on safety goes hand in hand with quality enhancement.
The manufacturer’s Findlay, OH locations have also achieved
ISO 9001:2000 status for their production quality.
Winning case studies were recently acknowledged at NSC’s
Congress & Expo Opening Session; the world’s largest annual
convention in the safety and health industry. The studies are published
in Case Studies in Safety & Productivity, a NSC Research and
Statistical Services Group publication, and highlighted in the October
issue of the NSC’s Safety and Health magazine. These case
studies provide an important resource for other organizations –
a showcase of real life examples.
The National Safety Council is currently America’s safety
and health leader, and has been so for 90 years. It is a non-governmental
public service organization with 50 local chapters nationwide. NSC’s
members represent 37,500 business and labor organizations, schools,
public agencies and private groups.
One of the nation’s largest suppliers of storm water management
systems, Hancor manufactures a wide variety of plastic drainage
products for the commercial, residential, construction and agricultural
markets. Hancor was founded in 1887 in Findlay, OH and operates
