Hancor recognized for commitment to recycling

Findlay, OhioDecember 2, 2004: Hancor’s commitment to environmental stewardship has earned them an award and an opportunity to increase recycling initiatives.

Hancor recently received the Recycling Market Development Award at the first-ever Ohio Partners for Sustainability Awards. These awards are co-sponsored by the Association of Ohio Recyclers, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.

“We are pleased to present Hancor with this award for their use of recycled materials in the manufacture of plastic drainage pipe,” said Anne Filbert, a representative from the Partners for Sustainability Awards Committee. “Hancor has demonstrated a strong commitment to the environment and we are proud to recognize that commitment through this award.”

These awards recognize businesses, volunteers, students and government agencies for their efforts in recycling, waste reduction, litter prevention and environmental education.

“Each year, Hancor uses more than 80 million pounds of recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic,” said Bill Altermatt, Hancor Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “This really demonstrates our commitment to the environment and our commitment to Ohio.”

In addition to receiving the award, The Ohio Department of Natural Resources provided Hancor with a 2004 Market Development Grant to expand their plastics recycling capabilities. The grant will be invested in advanced testing equipment, allowing Hancor to utilize at least 1,000 tons of recycled HDPE pipe per year.

Altermatt added, “Hancor is honored to be a grant recipient, and we are proud to continue investing in the future of the environment.”
