Hancor Recognizes Field Excellence

Findlay, Ohio – April 10, 2003: Adel Shirmohammadi, Professor in the Biological Resources Engineering Department at the University of Maryland, has recently been named the 2003 recipient of the Hancor Soil and Water Engineering Award by the American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE).

"The award is one of Hancor’s investments in the future of the soil and water management industry," says Steve Anderson, President of Hancor. "We hope to inspire today’s young engineers to achieve their future goals by recognizing notable accomplishments by exceptional individuals within the industry."

Sponsored by Hancor, Inc. since 1966, the Hancor Soil and Water Engineering Award recognizes noteworthy contributions to the advancement of soil and water engineering. Contributions may be made in different areas, including research, teaching, planning, design, construction, management, or materials development.

Shirmohammadi was selected for his distinguished accomplishments as a teacher and faculty member, as well as his outstanding research in the areas of hydrologic and water quality management and nonpoint source pollution assessment. He has proven his dedication to the industry through his teaching, numerous oral presentations at international conferences and impressive body of published work.

Due to projects in Sweden, Brazil and the Republic of Moldova, Shirmohammadi has received international recognition. Shirmohammadi has been a dedicated member of ASAE for over 19 years and has served on numerous ASAE committees over the years. He also belongs to many other professional organizations and has been the recipient of various awards for teaching, advising and research throughout his career.
