6-5 JOINTS
Joints serve several purposes in a drainage system. Their primary purpose
is to preserve the structural integrity by keeping the embedment material
out of the system. Well-designed joints also preserve the hydraulic properties
of the pipe by maintaining alignment between pipe ends. Joints can keep
effluent inside the pipe, which is necessary when environmental issues
are a concern. Site-specific requirements or local regulations will
usually dictate the quality of joint required.
Two Sure-Lok joint designs are available to meet the increasing demands
on joint performance. The Hancor Sure-Lok F477 joining system provides
a non-rated watertight joint. Hancor Sure-Lok WT is a rated watertight
joining system.
